Swan Sites is a large area of land platted in the mid 1970s located southeast of Bigfork. The neighborhood sits on forest land along both the banks of the Swan River, Swan Lake as well as Johnson Creek. This neighborhood is large enough to be its own zoning district. There is a mix of modest rural homes, some bare land still available and also waterfront residences along portions of the Swan River and Swan Lake. The historic Kootenai Lodge, which was recently purchased and renovated, is a centerpiece of Swan Sites. For landowners who are not right on waterfront, there are several lakefront lots reserved for their use within Swan Sites. Usually they are close enough to bike, walk or take a 4-wheeler to get there. The larger homeowner’s lot is on the east side of Swan Lake at the end of Moon Drive and is an especially nice lot with a gravel beach and parking area on Swan Lake. The other homeowner’s lot is off Rainbow Drive.
