Here’s How to Celebrate Thanksgiving All Month Long
If there are a few things that are on everyone’s mind this month, it’s preparation for the winter season and the big Thanksgiving feast to come! Yet with 30 days in the month, there are other festive things to do during this time of the year.
To get you in the mood, we have asked our friends for ideas to share with you and yours as we start the holiday and ski season to come.
Speaking of winter on the way, if a house by the slopes or on the lake is in your vision for 2023, reach out to our family at Hollinger Real Estate. For over 30 years, we have helped clients from near and far find the ideal investment to enjoy every season for years to come.
In the meantime, here are some ideas to kick-start your seasonal celebrations this year.
Host A Tailgate Party!
Griz, Cat Orediggers, or Saints, no matter who your team of choice may be, now is the ideal time to gather the gang for a tailgate party. No need to do this by yourself; make it a Potluck picnic in your barn or backyard … or a BBQ by the truck!
Cozy Up with Hot Pie and Toddy!
Not into football? No worries. Keep your concept seasonal and host a Hot Pie and Hot Toddy party! Go all out, get creative, and forget tradition. Click on this recipe re: “Not Your Grandma’s Pumpkin Pie.” And don’t forget to complement the creation with a toddy for the body. Here are two of our favorites which are ideal for this time of the year:
- Hot Cinn Apple Toddy
- Not Hot Toddy (perfect for those under 21!)

Put on A Pumpkin Party
Age does not matter when it comes to having fun. Here’s a simple game that everyone can play indoors or out. Gather some of your smaller pumpkins from your farm or local pumpkin patch. The smaller, the better. Then play a good old-fashioned game of hide and seek – just like you do with your colored eggs at Easter. Once the hunt is over, save the pumpkins and turn them into decorations or place cards for your Thanksgiving feast to come.
Capture the Memories
Here’s another idea to get the kids involved in seasonal traditions. Challenge the youth to a TikTok contest to create a story of your family’s past. All will be entertained while they interview their elders to learn about the many memories of holidays gone by. Once the videos are posted for the world to enjoy, find time to discover more stories and page through those dusty scrapbooks filled with photos … colored in black and white!
Host a Game of Gratefulness
There is no better time than Thanksgiving to find time to express your gratitude for good health, good times, and great friendships. Throughout the month, select one day of the week to play a “game of gratefulness” to document all that is good in life. The concept is simple: write down your thoughts of thanks, then place them in a bowl or vase as a keepsake until Thanksgiving. After the holiday feast is complete, pass the vase and read the notes of thanks out loud.
Salute a Solider
There’s a program called Operation Gratitude. They welcome letters from all ages thanking our soldiers for their service. From personal cards to hand-drawn colorful pictures of pumpkins and turkeys, all the messages bring a little joy into the lives of those who deserve it most.
From our family to yours, have a blessed and beautiful Thanksgiving.
